ANNOUNCEMENTS

MAYOR'S CORNER

Mayor Mike Pantelides: 410-263-7997, Mayor@annapolis.gov

Mayor's Office is responsible for the overall management of the City government.

Mike Pantelides

Michael John Pantelides became the 136th Mayor of Annapolis in November of 2013. Mayor Pantelides’ goal is to strike a balance of the City’s innate historic charm, while remaining dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting economic development.

Mayor Pantelides understand that the 300 + years of historic charm at City Dock comes with aging infrastructure that must be addressed, including replacement of the bulkhead and implementation of flood control measures.

While getting out front on the City’s capital projects, the Mayor’s fiscal prudence is also seen in the early stages of his proposed FY 2014 budget, which prioritizes reductions in spending. To that end, the mayor is also working to nurture a collaborative process with City Council, promoting a robust dialog much earlier in the budget process.

Partnerships are paramount to Mayor Pantelides. He is proud of the numerous outreach efforts already accomplished in his first few months in office with the Anne Arundel County School System, the County Executive, along with local and state elected officials.

The Mayor is a third generation Annapolitian, whose grandparents arrived in Annapolis from Greece and Cyprus in the 1940‘s, and opened The Royal Restaurant in the heart of the City’s historic district.

His personal experience as an Eagle Scout, a volunteer with the Annapolis Jaycees, Habitat for Humanity, 21st Century Education Foundation, and faith-based groups give him a unique perspective of those in need.

Michael John Pantelides was born in Annapolis on September 5, 1983 to parents John and Gloria Pantelides. He attended Kneseth Israel Kindergarden, Germantown Elementary School, St. Martins Lutheran School in Annapolis and Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn. In 2007 he received a B.A. in Philosophy from West Virginia University.
